The visual identity session recently took place within the MBA module of the MArch Advanced program in architecture, design, and business administration.
This class aims to highlight the relationship between design and business management while also delving into the importance of visual identity in brand development and the creation of a solid business plan. In a highly competitive landscape where brands must stand out in an oversaturated market, visual identity becomes an essential component for effectively communicating a company’s values and mission.
Far from being just a logo, visual identity encompasses all the graphic and visual elements that shape the public’s perception of a brand. It includes not only the logo itself but also the accompanying elements such as symbols, corporate typography, and brand colors. These elements work together to create a cohesive and recognizable image. The class explored these fundamental aspects in detail, explaining how each component influences brand perception and how they must be carefully selected to accurately convey the intended message.
Beyond the basics, the session also analyzed additional elements that play a key role in shaping a brand’s visual identity. These include photographic or illustrative styles, which define the brand’s visual tone, and both physical and digital applications, such as web design and user interfaces. The discussion also covered more tangible resources like packaging, commercial space architecture, signage, and animations, all of which help reinforce visual identity across different contexts. From the most subtle to the most prominent components, all elements must work in harmony to provide a consistent experience aligned with the brand’s values. This coherence allows businesses to establish a deeper and more lasting connection with their target audience.
