Valencia, UNESCO City of Design

As stated by the Design Foundation of the Valencian Community, and after having held the World Design Capital in 2022, the city of Valencia has become part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network since this November.

Valencia and, in a broader sense, the Valencian territory, with companies such as Gandía-Blasco, Poolins, Viccarbe, Porcelanosa, Capdell, Andreu World or Point, among many others, are true centers of creativity. Likewise, collections such as the Alfaro Hofmann Collection of product design, with a library specialized in design, reinforce the importance of Valencia in the creative field.

During the last decades, design, architecture and interior design professionals, as well as creatives from other fields such as illustration or audiovisual production, have demonstrated a solid design culture that permeates the entire territory. This recent accession promotes creativity and cultural industries as crucial elements for the sustainable development of the city and follows the path of evolution that other world design capitals have already followed, such as Helsinki, Mexico City or Seoul.
