Recently, MArch has undertaken a trip to Porto in order to discover the prestigious Portuguese architecture, visiting iconic works by Álvaro Siza, as well as projects by NOarq and OODA. In addition, they met prominent architects such as Correia/Ragazzi, José Carlos Oliveira and António Choupina, who shared their professional vision.

Porto is a city recognized for being the birthplace of the Portuguese school of architecture, internationally admired for its innovative approach and sensitivity to the environment. This trip has been a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about the work of some of the most prominent architects in the region, exploring both emblematic projects and the philosophy that guides their designs.

During their stay, the students have visited the architects Correia/Ragazzi, José Carlos Oliveira, director of NOarq, and António Choupina, who have shared their vision and professional experiences. They have also visited iconic projects by Álvaro Siza, such as the Piscinas das Marés, a masterful example of architectural integration with the landscape, and the Serralves Foundation, where they were also able to enjoy an exhibition of models by the prestigious Japanese studio SANAA. These visits have not only allowed them to appreciate the constructive and conceptual excellence of the works, but also to reflect on the cultural impact of Portuguese architecture.

The itinerary has also included contemporary projects by studios such as NOarq and OODA, highlighting the diversity and richness of approaches within the Portuguese architectural scene. This trip serves to reinforce the academic learning of the students, as well as providing them with an immersive experience in a real context, connecting theoretical concepts with their practical application in works of great architectural and cultural value.
