The Correia Ragazzi studio shared with MArch students one of its most intimate and personal projects: La Quinta de Velude, near Porto and facing the Duero River, in a privileged location. It all begins with the Casa da Capela, part of the Quinta de Velude, which has its roots in the 14th century and is linked to the historical presence of the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques. Over time, the property has been transmitted through the families of the Morgados de Velude, with a rich history that includes the founding of ancient chapels integrated into the Parish Church of Cinfães.
Located in the Douro region, the villa offers an authentic experience in an 18th century Portuguese manor house, renovated with modern comfort criteria. Surrounded by traditional landscapes of the Douro wine region, the property is located an hour’s drive from Porto, with great potential for tourist itineraries and can be rented for holidays in this link.
The house has been meticulously rehabilitated by the Italian-Portuguese studio taking into account comfort criteria typical of the 21st century, preserving its original spatiality and traditional colors such as “Douro green” (visible in the oil paintings on the wood), reds and ocher (in windows and doors) or blue, promotes natural lighting and ventilation. It highlights a spatial fluidity that can be seen through the alignment of doors and windows, guaranteeing natural lighting and ventilation that improves the quality of the user. In addition, the terraces, gardens and pool contribute to comfort, avoiding the need for air conditioning. The 7 hectare farm has ancient trees and water sources, ensuring self-sufficiency in water supply.
