Last Monday, the students of the MArch Master’s programs in Architecture had the opportunity to present the results of the Photoshooting Workshop to their peers, an activity that allowed them to explore various facets of visual communication in architecture and design.

During the workshop, participants worked in multidisciplinary teams with the goal of creatively and professionally capturing key elements of design, using photography as a tool to convey different spatial, conceptual, and material narratives. The presentation of results, conducted as part of their training, consisted of a series of sessions where each team shared their approaches and creative processes, showcasing the work developed over recent weeks.

The groups tackled a variety of themes that tested their ability to interpret and communicate different aspects of design and architecture through photography. Some teams focused on representing architecture through a prototype of the NIU N70, designed by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, employing various techniques to reflect the relationship between form, space, and the materiality of the design. Other teams worked on the representation of interior spaces, such as the classroom designed by Emilio Giménez, aiming to convey the interaction between space, light, and furniture through images that highlighted the functionality and aesthetics of the design. Simultaneously, some teams focused on Gandia-Blasco furniture, undertaking an exercise in product design communication with an emphasis on the detail and visual composition of the pieces.

Additionally, the workshop also encompassed the visual communication of other design disciplines, such as Andreu Alfaro’s sculpture and automotive design. Students working with Alfaro’s sculpture faced the challenge of conveying the relationship between the sculpture and its surrounding space, playing with light, shadows, and proportions to highlight the essence of the works. Meanwhile, one group dedicated their efforts to representing a Range Rover car, an exercise in which participants explored how photography can communicate the innovation, dynamism, and character of a high-end product.
