Photoshooting Sessions at Espai Alfaro
FECHA
13.12.2024
The photoshooting begins as a workshop corresponding to module M01_Communicate, guided by Sara Atienza, where students have the opportunity to develop their acquired technical skills and creativity in real-world settings. The activities include conceptualization, creative direction, and post-production, fostering collaboration and visual exploration. This comprehensive approach bridges theory with professional practice.
During this week, Espai Alfaro transforms into a creative stage for dynamic photoshooting sessions organized as part of the MArch program. These activities, designed to enhance students’ practical skills, are structured into teams that tackle photographic projects in three key areas: architecture, interior design, and product. The goal is to provide students with an immersive experience that allows them to integrate the knowledge acquired in the M01_Communicate module and apply it in real-world creative work scenarios.
The unique environment of Espai Alfaro, with its iconic architecture, functional design, and rich collection of artistic elements and materials, offers students an unparalleled canvas for their photographic proposals. Each group of students has the opportunity to explore different approaches and visual narratives, utilizing the interior and exterior spaces of the Espai to convey concepts and emotions through photography.
The sessions begin with the conceptualization of the main idea for each field, where students must define the message, style, and visual elements they wish to highlight. In architecture, teams face the challenge of capturing the essence of Espai Alfaro, emphasizing its spatial design, the play of light and shadows, and the relationship between its volumes. In interior design, groups work on composing scenes that reflect warmth, functionality, or contemporary aesthetics, leveraging the details of the furniture and the ambiance of the location. Finally, in product photography, students develop images that showcase the qualities and design of specific pieces, creating a balance between functionality and visual appeal.
These sessions, coordinated by Sara Atienza, put into practice the knowledge acquired during the M01 module, where students have studied techniques in composition, visual narrative, camera handling, and graphic communication strategies. During the photoshooting, they must demonstrate their ability to apply this knowledge comprehensively, making decisions about framing, perspectives, lighting, and image editing. The experience also encourages collaborative work, as students must coordinate roles within their teams, dividing tasks such as creative direction, photography, styling, scene setup, and post-production. This comprehensive approach allows them to experience the various stages of a professional photographic project.
In addition to being an opportunity to practice technical skills, the sessions at Espai Alfaro act as a catalyst for students’ creativity. Confronted with existing spaces, they must find innovative ways to reinterpret and use them as part of their visual narrative. This combination of physical limitations and conceptual freedom stimulates students to think critically and find original solutions that enhance the visual impact of their projects.
