On October 10th, at 6pm, at the headquarters of the Arquia Foundation in Madrid, on Calle Tutor, the documentary OAB 2005-2025 will be premiered. It delves into the projects carried out by the OAB Ferrater studio over the last twenty years, reflecting on the trajectory of the studio founded by Carlos Ferrater, Xavier Martí, Lucía Ferrater and Borja Ferrater. After the screening, Carlos Ferrater himself will hold a dialogue with Emilio Tuñón and Sara de Giles, in which other architects such as Fuensanta Nieto, Juan Herreros, Antón Capitel, Ignacio Vicens and Montserrat Nogués will also participate.
The OAB (Office of Architecture in Barcelona) studio, which the MArch students are lucky enough to visit during their trip to Barcelona, is one of the most influential studios in contemporary Spanish architecture. OAB’s multidisciplinary team has developed projects ranging from housing and public facilities to large infrastructures and urban plans. The studio’s philosophy is based on in-depth formal and technical research, which is reflected in innovative, aesthetically coherent and functionally integrated architectural solutions. Ferrater, winner of numerous awards, including the National Architecture Prize, has been a pioneer in the use of complex geometric forms and in the dialogue between architecture and landscape.
Over the years, OAB Ferrater has gained international notoriety thanks to iconic projects such as the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I, the Paseo Marítimo de Benidorm or Villa Nurbs. The studio is characterized by its ability to adapt to the particularities of the context and by its collaborative approach, which involves not only architects, but also engineers, landscapers and designers. With a clear vision towards the future, OAB continues to explore new forms of architectural expression, always maintaining a firm commitment to sustainability and technological innovation in each of its works.
