During their visit to the Milan fair, students from the different MArch programs have had the opportunity to listen to one of the most authoritative voices in the field of architecture: the renowned British architect and designer John Pawson, who was present at Hall 14 of the Salone del Mobile on April 18.
In conversation with another renowned architect, Smiljan Radic, he commented on some of his most representative projects, as well as anecdotes related to them. Responding to Radic’s questions, he also gave his opinion regarding how he sees the future of architecture and particularly residential architecture. Likewise, he answered questions from attendees, also interacting with the public.
John Pawson is known for his minimalist approach and attention to detail in the design of spaces and objects. He trained in architecture at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London and throughout his career he has developed a style that is characterized by simplicity, purity of lines and the use of natural materials. He has worked on a wide range of projects, from private and commercial residences to religious spaces and museums.
Some of his most famous works include the design of the Nový Dvůr Monastery in the Czech Republic and the renovation of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. His work has been widely recognized with awards and exhibitions around the world. In relation to the fair itself, he has also ventured into the design of furniture and objects, collaborating with internationally renowned brands. His minimalist approach and pursuit of beauty have left a significant mark on the world of contemporary design.
