MArch students attended Sevak Asatrián’s Digital Composition class, where they learned graphic design principles such as page layout, grids, and typography. They applied these concepts in practical exercises using Adobe InDesign, gaining skills to create clear and effective visual compositions.

Recently, students from the different MArch programs have had the Digital Composition class, taught by Sevak Asatrián, a theoretical-practical session that focuses on the use of digital design tools and techniques. In this class, students have thoroughly explored the principles of effective digital composition, examining how to visually structure their work to make it attractive and communicative. They have addressed fundamental aspects of composition, such as page structure, the proper use of grids, and the importance of maintaining visual coherence that allows the viewer to understand the content clearly and fluidly.

During the class, they also delved into graphic design techniques, explaining the treatment of images to properly integrate them into compositions, and they stressed the importance of typography to reinforce the visual message. The students learned the theory behind each of these elements and their relevance in the construction of a professional design. As they progressed in their learning, they had the opportunity to apply these concepts to various practical exercises using Adobe InDesign. This program has allowed students to directly experiment with the creation of complex compositions, work with text and images on the same platform, and adjust their designs until they achieved a visual balance that supports the narrative of their projects.

Students have had the opportunity to analyze examples of work by renowned designers, such as Ibán Ramón and David Cercós, among others. These references have allowed them to observe the practical application of the graphic design principles studied, understanding how high-level professionals approach page structure, the use of typography and visual composition in their projects. Through these examples they have been able to appreciate the quality, detail and aesthetic coherence that characterize the work of these designers. Sevak Asatrián’s class is a good opportunity for students to begin to familiarize themselves with the principles and tools of digital design, strengthening their skills to apply this knowledge in architectural, editorial or any other visual projects.
