Guided by David Cirocchi, students explore how to transform abstract ideas into tangible architectural representations through diagrams, plans, and sections. Integrating principles from Hacer para Pensar, they combine creativity, technical analysis, and materiality to develop a practical and systematic approach to design. This process bridges initial exploration, intuition, and execution, laying the foundation for solid and effective architectural projects.
In this session, architect David Cirocchi delves into the essential dynamics of the creative process, connecting initial conceptual ideas with their architectural representation. Through diagrams, plans, and sections, students learn to transform abstract and preliminary thoughts into structured and viable solutions, forming the basis for comprehensive project development. This approach fosters a practical and systematic understanding of design, enabling students to conceptualize innovative ideas and translate them into tangible and expressive outcomes.
The proposed exercise not only develops technical skills but also emphasizes the critical relationship between conceptual abstraction and its visual and material translation. Building on the principles of Hacer para Pensar, the session integrates material and manual dimensions into conceptual analysis, creating a bridge between creative intuition and the technical rigor required to bring ideas into the physical world.
Cirocchi’s methodology encourages students to explore how materials and manual practices influence the early stages of design, enriching conceptual analysis with a three-dimensional and contextual perspective. Through models, schematic drawings, and spatial simulations, students learn to shape their abstract thinking while addressing spatial, structural, and functional complexities with a creative yet pragmatic approach. The session also stimulates their ability to synthesize information and solve design challenges efficiently. By focusing on conceptual representation, participants identify the core elements of their initial idea, highlighting those that can become the central pillars of the final project. This process promotes a seamless integration of creativity, technique, and materialization, establishing a coherent and adaptable workflow for any stage of architectural development.
